okay, the kids had monday off of school, so I called up my sister in law and said, I have an idea, are you up for something maybe fun. She said sure and we headed out to try a small hike/picnic with the kids. The information I had about the hike said that it was a nice flat trail easily accessaible by bikes, people, strollers, etc. So we took the stroller. This would have been fine, had we not misread the map for the trail and started on the wrong trail. This trail was a bit more rocky than I could have imagined, and is it my imagination or is it getting worse. Oh, well press on..... the kids were having a great time, finding lizards and climbing rocks. about a mile later we finally figured out where the real trail was - up the mountain, we saw people walking on it. so, we decided the quickest route was up. The one problem? the stroller with the baby over and up the rocky mountain.
looking down.
This is about half of the way up looking up.
Well, it was a challenge, but we made it, and we ever the more grateful and in awe of what the pioneers must have went through with carts and wagons up mountains, etc. Once we arrived on the correct trail, it was such a nice trail -just like the description said. We found the old railroad tunnels and played around until time to head back.
(maybe we'll have to try this one again, without the pioneering sidetrack????!!)
